Brooks Regional Transportation Service

Weekly transportation service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for residents of the Brooks Region to Medicine Hat (statutory holidays are excluded). Priority will be given to individuals in need of medical services within Medicine Hat. Applications must be submitted and approved prior to using the service (see below for application).

Bus leaves and arrives at the JBS Canada Centre located at 323 1st Street East, Brooks, AB (main entrance to the facility). Bus leaves at 8:00 a.m. from Brooks to Medicine Hat, and leaves Medicine Hat at 3:00 p.m. arriving in Brooks at or around 4:00 p.m.


Cost for a one-way trip is $10, and a round trip is $20. For questions or to book the service, please contact 403-362-6190.

City of Medicine Hat Special Transit

Available for persons, who due to a physical and/or mental disability, can not use the regular public transit system. Must qualify through a functional assessment and have previously registered with Transit.

DoubleMap Transit App - Riders of Medicine Hat Transit can now see the location of their bus in real time and when it’s expected to arrive, thanks to our partnership with DoubleMap. While the system provides the public with the estimated arrival time of our bus at a stop, riders are advised to be at their stop 5 minutes before a departure.


Mobile apps are also available on Google play and the Apple App Store.

HandiBus - Brooks & Bow Island

​Door-to-door wheelchair accessible service for seniors and people with disabilities.  All persons utilizing the Handibus must complete an application form. Please call for more information.

For Brooks:

The service operates within the city limits and focuses on seniors and those with cognitive and physical disabilities as well as anyone in the community that will require the service with short term disabilities. The cost to utilize the Handibus Specialized Transit Service is $4 per one-way trip.

J & L Shuttle Service

Shuttle between Medicine Hat & Calgary 7 Days a Week, twice a day.


Passengers can enjoy a trip to the airport, hospitals, and some shopping centers in Calgary. Stops can be made in Redcliff, Suffield, Brooks, Bassano, Strathmore and Chestermere.

Medical Examination for Motor Vehicle Operations

Having a medical condition does not necessarily mean your driving will be restricted. The type of illness, treatment, medications and other factors are reviewed to determine effects on your fitness and ability to drive. Decisions regarding ability to drive are based on the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators Medical Standards.

Driver Fitness and Monitoring uses your medical report and other information such as medical documentation, your driving record and road test results to determine your ability to drive safely.
