Fair Entry Program - Medicine Hat

The Fair Entry program is designed to assist low income families/individuals to enjoy programs throughout the city through subsidized user fees. Eligible users will have access to the following:


Recreation User Fee Assistance - 50% off up to $100 per year for City of Medicine Hat regular-priced recreation program and admissions at the Family Leisure Centre, Crestwood Recreation Centre and city-run outdoor pools. 

Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre Galleries (Art, Museum, Archives) – 50% off maximum of $20 per year admission to the Galleries. 

Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre Education Programs – 50% off percent off up to $100 per year for educational programs directly provided by staff. 

Seniors Centre/Meals on Wheels – 50% off fees up to $100 per year for programs and/or services that are directly provided by staff (*note: a separate application is required to access the Meals on Wheels program).

Good Samaritan Society - Medicine Hat

The Good Samaritan Society at South Ridge Village offers seniors multiple levels of support and the opportunity to age in place with 70 private continuing care suites and three 10-bed dementia care cottages. 

Admissions are coordinated by the Alberta Health Services Placement Coordinator in Medicine Hat, 403-528-8000

The Supportive Living program consists of 42 suites and provides accommodation and personal care services to residents in private suites.

​The Oyen Seniors Drop in Center is situated directly across the street from the Oyen Senior Lodge.

Services for Seniors at the Veiner Centre & Strathcona Centre

​Senior Services are offered at the Veiner Centre, at 255 Woodman Ave SE, and Fitness Classes are offered at the Strathcona Centre, at 1150 5th Street SE in Medicine Hat.

Strathcona Centre

The Strathcona Centre has reopened and is a hub of activity for the 50+ crowd. They offer drop in sports in the gymnasium and new equipment in the fitness centre. Fitness classes are also offered. For more information, please call 403-529-8307.


Veiner Centre
Senior Services promotes the well-being of people 50+ through various support services through the Veiner Centre. This centre is both run by a dedicated team of city staff members, as well as a huge amount of support from volunteers and community partners.

Supportive Counseling Services

Held on the second Wednesday of each month. Members of the Medicine Hat Senior Services can access Supportive Counseling Services for a FREE telephone or in-person consultation with Medicine Hat Family Service professionals on stress management, family issues or health and age-related losses. Call 403-529-8307 to book an appointment. The next Supportive Counselling Services day will be December 12 from 9:00am-12:00pm.


DILLS - Drop In Life Long Learning Series

Held one Wednesday per month from September through May. The next DILLS will be held on November 28 from 10:00am-12:00pm. The topic for this session will be Creating & Maintaining Friendships Throughout Life. No DILLS session will be offered in December.
