Living with Type 2 Diabetes (3hr) During this interactive group learning session clients choose the topic of discussion. These tips and tools will help individuals develop the confidence they need to live well with diabetes. Call to register or this class can be done over Telehealth.

Taking Care of You (3 Misspelled WordHr) This vascular risk reduction class is great knowledge for individuals with chronic disease, pre-diabetes, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia. Alberta Healthy Living Program - Exercise Program

​Both Medicine Hat & Brooks locations offer an exercise program for clients with chronic illness. Client may self refer or be referred by a physician or PCN nurse. The Medicine Hat program is 10 weeks and the Brooks program is 12 weeks.

 

If you are looking for fall prevention exercises, this program includes 2 sessions that focus on balance. They also work on strength and flexibility which helps with balance too. If you are referring for fall prevention, please note that on the referral form.

When using our referral forms you can request a consultation with Dr. Dang or choose from the tests we provide which include methacholine challenge testing (to assess airway hyper-responsiveness) and respiratory muscle strength (used to assess patients with/for neuromuscular disease such as Lou-Gehrigs/ALS).

 All testing also offers complimentary respiratory education, puffer/device teaching and a spacer used for MDI (metered-dose Inhalers) medications.

The YMCA now has a new Living Fit Program for people with disabilities, chronic conditions, and those at risk for disease (diabetes, hypertension, ect..). They customize depending on need focusing on a slower pace work out.

They can customize a program for such issues as Fall Prevention working in balance and leg strength. No referral is required but participants must be YMCA members. The YMCA also offers finical assistants to those in need.
