PCN COVID-19 Information and Patient Resources

Every day, each of us can take small actions to help prevent spread of COVID-19. This includes:

  • Staying 2 metres apart when you can
  • Wearing a mask when in a public place
  • Practising good hygiene: wash your hands, don't touch your face and cover coughs and sneezes
  • Monitoring your symptoms every day
  • If you feel sick, staying home, getting tested and following mandatory isolation requirements while you wait for results.
  • Avoiding non-essential travel
  • Getting the flu shot to keep influenza cases low so our health workers can focus on the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Downloading and using the ABTraceTogether contact tracing app when out in public.  It has been updated and is directly integrated into Alberta's contract tracing system, making it an effective tool for helping reduce the spread of COVID-19. 

Social gatherings:

Enhanced restrictions are in effect in our communities to limit the spread of COVID-19 and to bend the curve.

For the time being, no indoor social gatherings are permitted in any setting (private homes, public spaces or workplaces). This does not apply to service visits from caregivers, health or child care providers and co-parenting arrangements.

We recognize the impacts of isolation on mental and emotional health. If you live alone, you may choose up to two non-household close contacts.

Province wide, outdoor social gatherings may occur, with a maximum of 10 people in attendance. Now is not the time for large gatherings, smaller is better.

Mask use:

Wearing a homemade or non-medical mask in public is another tool to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Well-designed and well-fitting masks or face coverings can prevent the spread of your infectious respiratory droplets. They may also help protect you from the infectious respiratory droplets of others.  

All Albertans are encouraged to wear non-medical masks.

Masks should complement – not replace – other prevention measures. Continue physical distancing and good hand hygiene, and stay home when sick.

Public health emergency:

Alberta has declared a Public Health Emergency to protect the health care system from COVID-19. Indoor social gatherings are the top source of transmission. All indoor social gatherings have now been banned. This ban will be enforced with $1,000 fines. Learn more

Help from your Health Home (family doctor's office):

  • Your family doctor, along with the rest of your health team, is available when you need them, for COVID-19 or any other health issue.
  • In addition to being well-versed in COVID-19, your health home team is familiar with your health and can provide medical support and follow-up after a diagnosis.
  • If you receive a positive COVID-19 test, let your health home know with a phone call.
  • If you do not have a family doctor, please check the PCN's listing here.
  • Most family physicians and their teams offer virtual care visits by phone or video, when appropriate, and, they have specific steps they follow to take good care of you without ever stepping foot into a hospital.
